The Street Department consists of
two sections - Street/drainage maintenance and Wastewater line
maintenance, called Street-Wastewater.
The
Street section is responsible for maintaining the streets by
patching potholes and overlaying with new asphalt, taking care of
storm drains and ditches around the City, installing culverts for
driveways, maintaining a section of railroad track in the Industrial
Park, and repairing sidewalks.
Street-Wastewater's main
function is maintenance, repair, and addition of sewer lines in and
around the City of Hope. We have a couple of hundred miles of lines
that they oversee, so they are always busy. A secondary
function is adding new street signs and replacing damaged or stolen
ones. A new brochure has been
completed and contains information about the city's wastewater
system and how to help keep it functioning
correctly.
