The primary mission of the Fire Department is to protect life, property and the community from the destructive effects of fire, disasters or other life hazards by providing public education, incident prevention and emergency response services.
The Hope Fire Department is a professional firefighting department with an ISO Class 3 rating. HFD is staffed by sixteen paid firefighters, assisted by four volunteer firefighters. HFD has two fire stations: Station One: 308 East 2nd Street Station Two: 1001 North Hazel

- Fire suppression
- First responder - Emergency medical services
- Vehicle extrication and basic response
- Fire code enforcement
- Disaster management and emergency operations
- Public education through in-house and outreach programs
- Fire cause and determination investigations
Dale Glanton started serving the City of Hope in 1984 as a firefighter. During this time, he took classes from the Arkansas Fire Academy. Mr. Glanton was promoted to Captain in 1999 and in the same year to Assistant Fire Chief. Dale served as Assistant Fire Chief until January 8, 2011, when he was appointed Interim Fire Chief. He became Fire Chief on April 21, 2011.
